Shops, offices, flats, urban nature, and a play path: these will be the main elements of Billund’s new shopping plaza (in Danish 'Butikstorvet'), which along with the rest of the city centrec create the setting for an attractive shopping experience and a fun working and everyday life for both locals and visitors.

A blend of residential and commercial

The new shopping plaza, located adjacent to LEGO House, turns downtown Billund into a natural gathering spot for locals and visitors. A total of six buildings, Butikstorvet brings together shops and offices with attractive flats. Based on the Billund Urban Vision, which seeks to maintain the city’s unique character as the Children’s Capital with a focus on play, learning and creativity, emerges a green cityscape between the buildings with a creative play path, the Playline, and an extension of Billund brook, rising near the LEGO House, as the main recreational elements.

Creating new shopping experiences

On the ground floor level, Butikstorvet hosts a wide range of shops, creating brand-new opportunities for a diverse range of enticing shopping experiences together with the rest of the downtown area. In addition to the shops and office facilities, the plaza provides space for several owner-occupied and rental flats in variety of sizes on the upper floors of the buildings where singles and families, old as young, can enjoy the view of the living urban space beneath. In addition, Butikstorvet has access to underground parking facilities as well as above-ground parking facilities – creating more space on the shopping plaza itself while allowing citizens and visitors easy access to the city center.
