Winning proposal for the New Hospital Glostrup

19.12.2013 / The team with AART architects and Nordic Office of Architecture in the lead have won the competition for the 25,000-m2 neurological rehabilitation centre at Glostrup Hospital in Copenhagen. The new centre marks Glostrup Hospital as one of the world's leading hospitals for specialized rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries.
The Capital Region of Denmark has appointed the team consisting of AART architects, Nordic Office of Architecture, Marianne Levinsen Landscape, Buro Happold, Hospitalitet and Harde Larsen Consulting Engineers as winner of the competition for the new neurological rehabilitation centre with a construction cost of 714,000,000 Danish kroner.
The neurological rehabilitation centre stands out by creating a unique, healing environment for patients and staff. Located west of the existing hospital the centre takes advantage of the green park by which the two white building volumes rise on a scenic base. Internally, the functions are placed around a community centre in the centre building. At the same time, all functions have a close relation to the green park – either by overlooking the park or by having direct access to intimate gardens on and around the centre.
