AART selected to design port district in Aarhus

21.02.2019 / Together with A. Enggaard, Schmidt Hammer Lassen, Labland Architects, Rum3 Studio and ATP Ejendomme, we won the competition to design two plots at Sydhavnskvarteret – a new 65,000-square-metre urban development along the southern harbour of Denmark’s second largest city.

Sydhavnskvarteret will become a socially sustainable landmark for urban development. It will be based on an inclusive-design process – all with aim of creating a versatile reflection of city life in which people from various social groups co-exist. Thus, the new port district will also combine the diversity of the existing settlement with a new connection to the city’s waterfront, just as it will include housing, cafes, retail, offices, a childcare centre, art installation spaces and recreational urban spaces.

We look forward to shaping this socially sustainable landmark and injecting new life into the formerly industrial port district, together with our team and, not to forget our ambitious client, Aarhus Municipality.
