Winning proposal for Vestmyra Public School in Norway

18.09.2014 / Vestmyra Public School is the third competition for a school building project that we have won in just one year in Norway. We won the competition in collaboration with Nordic, Sweco, Norconsult and Hent. Our winning proposal consists of the renovation of an existing 9,350 m2 elementary school and the addition of a new middle school with corresponding administration offices, classrooms, special education facilities and gym.
‘The main concept divides the school into a series of areas, creating a more personal and small-scale environment. This reinforces the community spirit at each grade level and in the school as a whole. The design of the facade and choice of material support the main concept. The wings have been designed as small “houses”, and the wooden facades reflect the Norwegian architectural tradition,’ according to Fauske municipality, the developer behind the project.
