New hotel combines the past and present

On June 1 Scandic Aarhus City was inaugurated in the city centre of Aarhus in Denmark.

A new eventful dimension was added to Aarhus city centre when Scandic Aarhus City opened its doors to the public on June 1. The 17,000 m2 hotel brings together 150 years of city history as it has preserved a historic façade which conceals the new and strikingly modern hotel facilites.

“By preserving the historic façade we have breathed life into a unique part of the city history. We have strived to enrich the cityscape by creating a contemporary reading of the town cenctre´s characterful buildings and the interplay between new and old, between the modern and the historical, infuses the site with an intriguing architectural diversity,” Torben Skovbjerg, CEO at AART architects, explains.

Scandic Aarhus City is the second largest hotel in Aarhus and offers a wide range of modern hotel facilities, including 228 rooms, a lounge, a restaurant, an underground parking facility as well as conference facilities for 475 guests.
