New headquarters for one of the world's leading biorefineries

22.10.2015 / "We have designed the new headquarters in close dialogue with Borregaard, with the aim of promoting interactions between employees. It is through interactions that ideas arise and thoughts are shared, and as one of the world's leading biorefineries, Borregaard wants to share and develop knowledge on sustainability," states Anders Strange, CCO and partner in AART architects.
Knowledge sharing is the key word in the design of the 3,200 m2 headquarters, which will house Borregaard's senior management as well as 100 of the company's 1,080 employees. An atrium opens the headquarters internally while varying and closely related work zones will stimulate communications across the company. A series of circular meeting rooms panelled in glass and wood are at the centre of the atrium to show that dialogue and cooperation are at the foundation of Borregaard's work.
"With its white pixelated facade, the building lights up the industrial landscape and marks Borregaard as a modern knowledge-based company. As a contrast to the white exterior, the building opens inwardly as a warm and tactile space panelled in wood. This architectural concept, together with the circular meeting room in the heart of the building, refers to wood and knowledge sharing as Borregaard's natural resources," explains Anders Strange.
