On October 2 the Norwegian Minister of Health, Jan Gahr Støre, marked a milestone on the genisis of the 82,500 m2 Østolf Hospital in Sarpsborg in Norway.
On October 2 the Norwegian Minister of Health laid the foundation stone for the new Østold Hospital. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the 300,000 citizens of the Østfold region can look forward to one of the most modern and efficient hospitals in Europe.
The foundation stone contains architectural drawings, childrens drawings and a Norwegian 100 krone banknote and will be placed in the floor in the foyer by which it will be visible for patients and relatives when they enter the hospital.
In 2002 we won the international competition for Østfold Hospital in collaboration with the Danish studio Arkitema and Norwegian Eliassen & Lambertz-Nilssen Arkitekter. The hospital is one of the largest building projects in Norway and is expetected to be inaugurated in 2015.
