Looping extension to the new Viking Age Museum in Oslo

12.04.2016 / Ahead of the 111 proposals submitted, we have been awarded first place in the open, international architectural competition for the new Viking Age Museum in Oslo. A unanimous jury has also selected a second and third place proposal, and we are looking forward to entering into the final negotiation phase on the new museum with an area of 13,000 m2, of which 9,300 m2 are new buildings.

"The jury concluded that AART architects' contribution provides a very good solution to a complicated challenge. The new building will secure and preserve the unique, popular and fragile Viking age collection which is one of the world's foremost cultural monuments," says Harald Nikolaisen, CEO at Statsbygg, who has been commissioned by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research to undertake the planning of the new Viking Age Museum.
