International conference on wood architecture

02.05.2014 / We are among the keynote speakers at the conference "Knock on Wood", which will open this year's Belgrade International Architecture Week, featuring lectures by architects behind some of the most distinguished Nordic wood constructions - including the 19,000 m2 residential complex the Waterfront in Stavanger.

At the conference, Jesper Hallstrøm Eriksen, head of communications at AART architects, will talk about the Waterfront and the opportunities and challenges we as architects have met  underway during construction - from winning the international architectural competition in 2006 to today, where the building stands furthest out on the waterfront in Stavanger.

In addition to lectures, "Knock on Wood" will feature workshops and exhibitions focusing on innovative and sustainable wood architecture. Wood as a building material has almost disappeared in Serbia, and the conference aims to spark discussion about wood as a building material and its architectural and sustainable qualities.

A custom-built wooden pavilion will provide the framework for the conference, which will take place on Friday May 9th at the Faculty of Architecture at Belgrade University and marks the opening of the 9th Belgrade International Architecture Week.
