The first phase of the Waterfront has now been completed

02.07.2014 / On 1 July the first residents moved into the first phase of the new housing complex, which, appropriately enough, has been named “Vannkanten” (English: “The Waterfront”). This 19, 500-sqm housing complex is located at the very end of Stavanger’s waterfront, offering a 180-degree view over the sea and the mountains of Norway. A promenade with cafés and shops surrounds the 135 freehold flats and extends all the way into the town’s historic district.
The Waterfront has already attracted a great deal of attention in Norway. This is evident from the sale of apartments in the first two construction phases. In the first phase, in just a few days the flats were sold for the princely sum of NOK 100 million, while in the second phase no fewer than 15 apartments were sold in the space of just one hour.
“We are delighted to have created such marketable housing. By planning the Waterfront as a cohesive set of clean-cut, timber structures, we have created a distinctive housing project, which makes the very best use of the location. For example, all flats have light from both sides, so all residents have both town and water views,” says Torben Skovbjerg Larsen, CEO and partner in AART architects.
